This is at the outset when a person starts to realize that good and truth are something superior. Thoroughly external people do not even know what good is and what truth is, for they imagine that everything which comprises self-love and love of the world is good, and that everything that panders to those loves is truth. Thus they do not know that the things which they imagine to be good are in fact evil, and that those which they imagine to be true are in fact false. But when a person is conceived anew, first he starts to recognize that the good in him is not really good, and then, when he enters more into light, to recognize the existence of the Lord and that the Lord is good and truth themselves. The Lord Himself says in John that men ought to know He exists,

Unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins. John 8:24.

The point that the Lord is good itself, which is life, and truth itself, which is light, together with the consequent point that no good or truth exist except from the Lord, is made once more in John,

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men, and the light shines in the darkness. He was the true light that enlightens every man coming into the world John 1:1, 3-5, 9.

sRef Gen@1 @5 S0' sRef Gen@1 @4 S0' 21. Verses 4, 5 And God saw that the light was good; and God made a distinction between the light and the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

The light is called good, because it comes from the Lord, who is good itself. 'The darkness' is those things which were there prior to the person's new conception and birth. They were seen as light, because evil was seen as good, and falsity as truth. But in reality they are darkness and things proper to that person which are lingering on. All things that are the Lord's, being things of light, are compared to the day, and all that are man's own, being those of thick darkness, are compared to the night, as is done many times in the Word.

What 'evening' means, and what 'morning', is recognized from what is said above. 'Evening' means every prior state, because it is a state of shade, that is, of falsity and of absence of faith, while 'morning' is every subsequent state, because it is one of light, that is, of truth and of cognitions of faith. 'Evening' in general means all the things that are man's own, whereas 'morning' means all those that are the Lord's, as is said through David,

The Spirit of Jehovah has spoken within me, and His word is upon my tongue. The God of Israel has said, the Rock of Israel has spoken to me. He is like the morning light, when the sun is rising on a cloudless morning, shining bright, as when after rain tender grass [springs up] from the earth. 2 Sam. 23:4.

Because 'evening' is a time when there is no faith, and 'morning' when there is, the Lord's Coming into the world is called 'the morning', and the time at which He comes, since faith does not exist at that point, is called 'the evening', as in Daniel,

The Holy One said to me, Up to the evening when it is becoming morning, two thousand three hundred times. Dan. 8:13, 14.

In the Word, 'morning' stands in a similar way for every coming of the Lord, and so is a term describing the new creation.

Verse 3 E Dio disse: Sia la luce, e luce fu. Questo è all'inizio, quando una persona comincia a capire che il bene e la verità sono qualcosa di superiore. Le persone accuratamente esterne non sanno nemmeno a cosa serve e cos'è la verità, perché immaginare che tutto ciò che comprende l'amore di sé e l'amore del mondo è buono, e che tutto ciò che lusinga a quegli amori è la verità. Così non sanno che le cose che essi immaginano di essere buone di fatto sono male, e che quelle che immaginano essere vere in realtà sono false. Ma quando una persona è concepita di nuovo, prima comincia a riconoscere che il bene in lui non è veramente buono, e poi, quando si entra più nella luce, a riconoscere l'esistenza del Signore e che il Signore è buono e la verità in se stessi. Il Signore stesso dice in Giovanni che gli uomini dovrebbero sapere che esiste,

A meno che tu credi che io sono, morirete nei vostri peccati. John 8:24.

Il punto che il Signore è buono in sé, che è la vita, e la verità stessa, che è luce, insieme con il conseguente punto che niente di buono e di vero esiste se non dal Signore, è ancora una volta in Giovanni,

In principio era il Verbo e il Verbo era presso Dio e il Verbo era Dio. Tutte le cose sono state fatte per mezzo di lui, e senza di lui nessuna cosa è stata fatta. In Lui era la vita e la vita era la luce degli uomini, e la luce splende nelle tenebre. Era la luce vera che illumina ogni uomo che viene nel mondo John 1:1, 3-5, 9.

sref Gen @ 1 @ 5 S0 'sref Gen @ 1 @ 4 S0' 21. Versi 4, 5 E Dio vide che la luce era buona, e Dio fece una distinzione tra la luce e le tenebre. E Dio chiamò la luce giorno e ha chiamato le tenebre notte .

La luce è chiamata buona, perché viene dal Signore, che è buono in sé. 'Il buio' è quelle cose che erano lì prima della nuova concezione della persona e della nascita. Esse sono state viste come la luce, perché il male era visto come bene e la falsità come verità. Ma in realtà quelle cose giuste sono tenebre nelle quali la persona può indugiarci su. Tutte le cose che sono nel Signore, sono cose di luce, sono rispetto al giorno, e tutto ciò che è proprio dell'uomo, essendo quelle di buio fitto, sono confrontate con la notte, come avviene molte volte nella Parola.

Cosa significa 'sera' e quali 'mattino', è riconosciuto da quanto detto sopra. 'Sera', qualsiasi stato precedente, perché è uno stato di ombra, cioè di falsità e di assenza di fede, mentre 'mattino' è ogni stato successivo, perché è uno di luce, cioè, di verità e di cognizioni di fede. 'Sera', in generale, vuol dire tutte le cose che sono proprie dell'uomo, mentre 'mattina' si intendono tutti quelli che sono del Signore, come si dice per mezzo di Davide,

Lo Spirito del Signore ha parlato in me, e la sua parola è sulla mia lingua. Il Dio d'Israele ha detto, la Rocca d'Israele mi ha parlato. Egli è come la luce del mattino, quando il sole sta sorgendo in una mattina senza nuvole, splende luminoso, come quando, dopo la pioggia tenera erba [germoglia dalla terra]. 2 Sam. 23:04.

Perche 'la sera' è un momento in cui non c'è fede, e 'mattino', quando c'è, la venuta del Signore nel mondo viene chiamata 'la mattina', e il momento in cui Egli viene, poiché la fede non esiste in quel punto , si chiama 'la sera', come in Daniele,

Il Santo mi ha detto, fino alla sera quando sta diventando mattina, duemila trecento volte. Dan. 8:13, 14.

Nella Parola, 'mattina' sta in un modo simile per ogni venuta del Signore, e così è un termine che descrive la nuova creazione.
